Bikemobile
The Bikemobile is a mini-library on wheels. Pedaled by our very own Outreach Librarian, Avi Silberstein, the Bikemobile roams around the community, pulling a book-filled trailer and stopping to lend library books to anyone who waves him down. It gives community members an opportunity to borrow a book when they least expect it.
On its weekly adventures, the Bikemobile travels all over the CRD (locations include Beacon Hill Park, Willows Beach, and Moss Street Market). The Bikemobile also attends exciting local events, including festivals and celebrations of all kinds.
GVPL is committed to providing services and collections in innovative and environmentally-sustainable ways – the Bikemobile represents a “green” way of making our materials accessible to the communities we serve.
This project has been made possible by a generous grant from the Times Colonist’s Raise-a-Reader fund.
