Friends of the Library
Who are the Friends of the Library?
The Friends of the Library is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the Library, dating back to 1954. They promote the Library within the community. All proceeds from their membership dues, annual book sales, and ongoing sales of books at the Friendshop at the Central Library and through library carts at the branches go towards the programs and services of the Library.

Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are important partners in the Greater Victoria Public Library’s mission to provide universal access to secure and safe library services, to foster the love of reading, and to enhance the quality of life in our community. Supervised by Library staff, volunteers work with patrons and help with special projects and community events. For more information about volunteering opportunities see the Adult Volunteers and Teen Volunteers pages.
Did you know that the Greater Victoria Public Library makes house calls?
Our Visiting Library Service serves those unable to come into the library. These individuals are confined to home, hospital or a residential facility due to illness or physical disability. A few hours of your time each month will help us reach those in need. Using their own vehicles, volunteers deliver library materials throughout the GVPL service area. Please note that a criminal check and an interview is required.
For more information please see the Visiting Library Service page.
