Emily Carr Branch will close its location at 3500 Blanshard St. on Sunday, December 15 at 5:00 pm to prepare for our relocation to Uptown. Join us Friday, December 13, the anniversary of Emily Carr’s birthday, 1:00-4:00 pm at 3500 Blanshard St. We'll have cake and coffee, you can contribute to our memory book and there will be a craft table for kids. Everyone welcome.

World AIDS Day is December 1. In recognition of those living with HIV within our community, GVPL is hosting the We Are Here exhibit. On Monday, December 2, we invite you to join us for We Are Here: An Evening of Storytelling at the Belfry Theatre, presented in partnership with AIDS Vancouver Island (AVI), the Vancouver Island Persons Living with HIV/AIDS Society (VPWAS), VARCS, and the Belfry Theatre. We also have a booklist of adult fiction and non-fiction.

The Royal Canadian Mint will be unveiling two new 25-cent circulation coins commemorating the centennial of the Canadian Arctic Expedition. One of these coins will commemorate the centennial of the Canadian Arctic Expedition, the other will honour “Life in the North.” Members of the public are invited to attend the unveiling of these coins and to be among the first to exchange their quarters for these beautiful new coins.
