GVPL speaker series broadcast on CBC

CBC’s The Next Chapter aired a talk with author Monique Gray Smith, which GVPL and the Victoria Native Friendship Centre hosted in November.

The talk was part of GVPL’s 2017 speaker series, Reconciliation: Opening the Door to Conversations.

The broadcast played on CBC Radio One, 90.5 FM in Victoria on January 29 at 1:00 pm and February 3 at 4:00 pm.

Gray Smith’s address was the fourth and final event in GVPL’s series to inspire community conversations around revitalizing relationships with Indigenous peoples and Canadian society. The local author shared her journey toward truth and reconciliation, spoke about her three new books, and explored how each of us can be an ally as we lead our nation toward Truth and Reconciliation.

Gray Smith’s talk was hosted by Shelagh Rogers, O.C., who is the Chancellor of the University of Victoria and the host and a producer of The Next Chapter.

The speaker series was an initiative made possible by the Community Fund of Canada’s 150th, a collaboration between Victoria Foundation, the Government of Canada, and extraordinary leaders from coast to coast to coast.
