Read for Pride

In 1969, the LGBTQ community began a series of demonstrations against police raids at the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar in Greenwich Village in Lower Manhattan. The Stonewall Riots is considered to be the beginning of the modern LGBTQ rights movement. The first pride parade was planned for the last Sunday of June in 1970: the one-year anniversary of the riots.

This small sample of great reads from GVPL’s LGBTQ collection offers something for everyone and every age.

We’ll see you at the Victoria Pride Festival on Sunday, July 8, from 12:30 to 6:00 pm at MacDonald Park in James Bay. Learn more.
