Policy O.5, The Appeal Process

Purpose/Background Policy Statement and Details

The policies of the Greater Victoria Public Library (Library) are reviewed and updated to reflect the needs of the Library and the citizens within the region it serves. The Greater Victoria Public Library Board (Board) designates the enforcement of its policies to the Chief Executive Officer/Chief Librarian (CEO).


This policy applies to the Board, CEO, library management, library staff and library patrons.

Policy Statement and Details

Staff conduct business according to Board policy, and will attempt to resolve any library patron issue. However, when a patron disagrees with a policy or decision of the CEO or designate, it can be appealed, providing it is done in writing to the Board.

The Board will investigate each appeal and respond in writing.
