Oak Bay Branch, 1442 Monterey Ave, Victoria BC V8S 4W1
Stroll through quaint Oak Bay Village, and zip up the walkway across from Rogers’ Chocolates to the Oak Bay Branch, in the same building as the Monterey Recreation Centre.
The pleasant, old-time atmosphere of Oak Bay’s main street extends into the library. A stained glass window with bright-coloured shelves of books greets you in the foyer.
Libris the Lion, a wooden carousel animal hand-crafted and gifted to the library by the Woodcrafters Club at the Monterey Centre, marks the entrance to the children’s area and is a constant companion for young ones as they discover the magic of reading.
The Tonkin heritage house, built in 1913, became part of the library in 1999, adding to the branch a sunny reading room, magazine room with cozy fireplace and a program room for patrons of all ages to explore new ideas.
The heritage feel of the branch complements its modern conveniences. You can research on public computers, plug in your laptop to work on a school project, or get one-on-one help using devices and borrowing from our digital collections.
We love being part of vibrant, dynamic Oak Bay. Look for us at the Oak Bay Tea Party, the Oak Bay night markets and Hallowe’en on the Boulevard.
