Join Stephanie Ann Warner for the soap-opera-esque tales of Freeman Hopkins, a World War I veteran from Vancouver Island. Follow Hopkins’s adventures from pre-war ranching in Clayoquot Sound to obtaining—then losing—a soldiers’ settlement home in Saanich. Stephanie will use family photos, land records, archival documents and Hopkins’s letters to bring this fascinating, and at times exasperating, story to life. Registration begins May 3.

Presented in partnership with Saanich Archives.
