In partnership with the Bruce Parisian Library at the Victoria Native Friendship Centre we invite you to join us for a free documentary screening of Picking Up the Pieces: The Making of the Witness Blanket, followed by a facilitated discussion. As a way to honour the more than 150,000 victims of the Canadian residential school system, including his own father, artist Carey Newman embarked on a long journey to create the Witness Blanket, a large-scale art installation featuring hundreds of artifacts gathered from former residential school sites. See the Eventbrite link in the right-hand column to register. Space is limited. For more information, please contact [email protected]

Note: We understand that the content of this film can emotionally and intellectually challenging to engage with. Cultural support and a quiet space will provided for those who may feel particularly affected.
