The Book

Flight of the Hummingbird is based on an Indigenous parable from the Quechuan people of South America and tells the story of a little hummingbird doing what it can to save its forest home from a great fire.

Yahgulanaas’s text is accompanied by his unique Haida manga art, a blend of the iconic style of the Indigenous people of Haida Gwaii and Asian manga.

Borrow Flight of the Hummingbird or the children’s version, The Little Hummingbird.

Hummingbird on Stage

Watch Flight of the Hummingbird come to life in a new opera presented by Pacific Opera Victoria and Vancouver Opera, playing March 19 to 22 in Victoria.
