Visiting Library Services

Help us enrich the lives of others by volunteering as a driver for Visiting Library Services and delivering library material to those who are unable to visit our branches.

A few hours of your time each month will provide a much-needed service to those who are confined to their homes, the hospital or a residential facility due to illness or a permanent physical disability. Using their own vehicles, volunteers deliver library materials throughout the GVPL service area.

The service operates from Tuesday to Friday. Volunteers should be able to lift and carry bags of books. Drivers need to be flexible and able to pick up books from any of our branches.

Volunteers require a valid driver’s license. The library reimburses drivers $0.58 per kilometer (starting and ending at your assigned branch). The library’s insurance covers volunteers using their cars for GVPL business. A criminal background check, two reference checks and an interview are required.
