February is Black History Month

Black History Month is celebrated across Canada each year throughout the month of February.

GVPL participates in the sharing of the history, contributions and culture of black Canadians through programs and special events that often feature the black pioneers who arrived in Victoria in the 1800s, as well as the role models who work, live and inspire us today.

Browse our collection to find books, music and movies about and by black Canadians.

We hope you’ll join us for one of these fantastic programs, too. View our programs.
