Saanich Mayor and GVPL Board of Trustees to Tour New Nellie McClung Express Branch

VICTORIA, B.C. – Members of the media are invited to attend a photo opportunity and guided tour of the new Nellie McClung Express Branch with Saanich Mayor Dean Murdock, Councillor Teale Phelps Bondaroff, Greater Victoria Public Library (GVPL) Board Chair Shahira Khair, and Vice Chair Councillor Duncan Cavens from the Township of Esquimalt.

The Nellie McClung Express Branch offers a convenient location for picking up holds and returning library materials. It features three public computers for express use, including one adaptive station, along with a small browsing collection. This temporary branch helps ensure continued access to library services for the community during the multi-year redevelopment of the original Nellie McClung Branch. It reflects the ongoing commitment of the District of Saanich and GVPL to equitable access to information, literacy, and lifelong learning.

The tour will highlight the branch’s key features and provide an opportunity to hear from local leaders about the value of public libraries and their role in community resilience, engagement, and education.

Date: Tuesday, April 15, 2025

Time: 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

Location: Nellie McClung Express Branch, 3561 Shelbourne Street

Note: Limited parking is available behind the branch, with additional street parking nearby.

RSVP: Media are kindly asked to confirm their attendance by contacting Kelly Ridgway at [email protected].
