Bruce Hutchison Branch, 4636 Elk Lake Dr, Saanich Commonwealth Place, Victoria BC V8Z 7K2
Open the doors of the Bruce Hutchison Branch, and dive into a world of education and imagination.
Our welcoming space provides comfy areas for you to work at your laptop, go online at one of our public computers or study with friends. Light pours in from large windows that overlook one of Saanich’s beautiful green spaces – we recommend taking a walk with an e-audiobook filling your earbuds.
Artwork by local artists adds colour to our walls, and popular among our patrons is a display of Royal Oak’s pioneer families and one of the branch’s namesake, author and journalist Bruce Hutchison, including framed cartoons and a sketch of Hutchison by celebrated artist Myfanwy Pavelic.
Built as part of the Saanich Commonwealth Place Recreation Centre, with the area’s only Olympic-size pool, the Bruce Hutchison Branch opened its doors in 1994. We share a large programming room with Commonwealth Place in which we host free programs for kids, teens and adults.
We hope we’ll have the pleasure of welcoming you to Bruce Hutchison for quiet reading, a lively program or discovery of something new to enlarge your world.
