Set in 18th century Denmark, this epic historical drama follows Captain Ludvig Kahlen (Mads Mikkelsen), a proud but impoverished war hero, as he sets out to tame the barren Jutland heath. Hoping to cultivate the land, build a colony, and gain a noble title, Kahlen faces fierce opposition from the merciless landowner Frederik Schinkel (Simon Bennebjerg).
