The Friends of the Greater Victoria Public Library are a group of enthusiastic people of all ages who volunteer their time, energy and ideas in support of the library.
These valued volunteers help to promote the library, raise funds to enhance the library’s materials and programs, and run the Friendshop at the Central Branch.
With a membership of 120, the Friends of the Library keep very busy! Once books are withdrawn from library shelves, they become the property of the Friends of the Library. The Friends make these books available at their book sales and the Friendshop. In addition to offering some great bargains, the sales raise funds that go towards the programs and services of the library. The Friends have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for GVPL!
Join the Friends
A Friends membership is only $15 a year. New members are always welcome. You can volunteer your talents at book sales, on the Executive Board or at the Friendshop. Volunteers can help out at a single event or many times throughout the year.
To join the Friends, pick up a brochure at any GVPL branch. Fill out the form, place it in an envelope marked “Friends of the Library” and turn it in to any library staff member.
